Years of cooperation
with the UN
In 1995, the Academy was assigned category 1 consultative status under the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), one of the highest United Nations’ bodies.
Conference hall of ECOSOC
Consultative status with the UN, the highest category for non-governmental organizations, means that the International Informatization Academy is invited to world congresses and meetings, its representatives may participate in the work of the committees and commissions of the UN Economic and Social Council, departments and the UN General Assembly. The Academy has the legal right to the plenipotentiary representation of its members, programs, projects, plans, and scientific works in the United Nations.
There are now only about 200 non-governmental organizations from around the world with General Consultative status with the United Nations. Every year, this is confirmed at the level of ECOSOC and recorded in the official United Nations listing.
The Academy’s 22-year collaboration with the United Nations entails a rich history. In recognition of its contribution to developing dialogue between nations has become an annual celebration of November 26 as World Information Day, at the initiative of the Academy, an institution that presented at the first International Informatization Forum. It took place in Moscow and gathered thousands of reputable participants and guests from world leading countries.
In implementing the cooperation program with the UN, the Academy pays special attention to cooperation, not only with non-governmental organizations but with businesses, which are an integral part of civil society and largely determine its condition, and also to the social climate within society in general.
The programs and methods of activity within the business community are of great interest, enabling to consider the diversity of the interests and objectives of sustainable regional development and of civilization in general. Such approaches towards the management of economic activities are intended to receive support from UN agencies and global public opinion. Such topics are as follows:
- The environmental component of companies’ and corporations’ business programs, and the introduction of new technologies aimed at environmental preservation.
- The experience in executing socially responsible projects and participation in the development of high standard social services in the regions where businesses and corporations operate.
- Attention to resolving tasks regarding support and developing a human capital, creative and resourceful activity on the part of employees of companies and organizations, and the formation of new capital – the intellectual one.
- Support mechanisms for scientific developments and start-ups, venture financing, public information exchange in terms of innovative activities.
- The creation of new ecological materials and energy sources, efficient and clean technology waste recycling, and reduction of harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
- The practice of companies and corporations mutually cooperating with government agencies and non-governmental organizations to resolve urgent social issues, such as helping people with disabilities (the creation of an accessible environment), support for mothers and children (welfare programs), taking care of the younger generation (youth training programs, student scholarships), and fighting unemployment (opening of new jobs and occupations. retrain staff), and others.
Taking into account all of the above-listed priorities, in 2015, the International Informatization Academy will launch a program to present innovation developments promoting sustainable development and solutions related to the social problems of civilization.
Different countries have accumulated considerable positive experience with respect to all the challenges outlined above and it is useful and important to share these with the international community, including with the United Nations’ prestigious platforms.
The International Informatization Academy’s general consultative status at the United Nations and the support of its structures by ECOSOC structures has allowed the Academy to attract leaders and representatives of the most reputable organizations and companies in the world and from all sectors of economic activity to these platforms. This provides the opportunity to establish high-quality communication and for the business community to ensure effective dialogue with civil society on issues that are important for civilization.
Practical recommendations to the United Nations and ECOSOC should be the outcome of the proposed program. Formulated on behalf of the innovation community and supported by leading experts and specialists, these recommendations and specific proposals are intended to develop and promote sustainable development and to make a real contribution to civilization’s preservation and development.

Given the need to convey to people the idea of preserving peaceful coexistence among people on our planet, the Academy has successfully attempted to create a symbol reflecting the purpose of human existence.
This project was implemented in the form of the sculpture "Preserve the world for future generations". During the Conference on Disarmament at the Palace of Nations in Geneva, there was a grand opening ceremony for the sculpture "Preserve the world for future generations».
This sculpture was finally installed in the lobby of the Security Council of the United Nations building in Geneva.
The 20th anniversary of cooperation with the UN Academy celebrated a special international awards - the Order and Medal were handed over for merits in development of international cooperation for the future of civilization.
