Transforming our world

On 1 January 2016, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development — adopted by world leaders in September 2015 at an historic UN Summit — officially came into force.  Over the next fifteen years, with these new Goals that universally apply to all, countries will mobilize efforts to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change, while ensuring that no one is left behind

This Agenda is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. It also seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom. We recognize that eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development. All countries and all stakeholders, acting in collaborative partnership, will implement this plan. We are resolved to free the human race from the tyranny of poverty and want and to heal and secure our planet. We are determined to take the bold and transformative steps which are urgently needed to shift the world onto a sustainable and resilient path.

PROJECT OF THE YEAR: «CLIMATE SMART INITIATIVE"

The Climate Smart initiative focuses on a number of Sustainable development Goals and is based on the principles and values of goal 17 – partnership for the SDGs.

The program is designed to help achieve Goals 2 and 13

The Climate Smart initiative was successfully presented at the UN headquarters in New York at the side events of the High-level Political Forum in 2017 and 2018. Pilot projects of the program are already being implemented in a number of countries: Australia, Russia, Iraq, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Ukraine.

The global company DTN, a leader in providing weather services, including agriculture, was a partner in the development of these project.

Project Climate Smart aims to introduce new technologies in agriculture and climate monitoring that will increase food production, monitor and measure weather and climate in unmonitored rural areas, and reduce the impact of weather volatility and natural disasters on governments, civil society and various other sectors. Climate Smart will also help countries in their adaptation and mitigation of climate change.

To assist the country in adapting to the adverse effects of climate change and to reduce these impacts as well as to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by designing a network of weather stations that can be used to build an early warning system and monitor air, water and soil as per the needs of the country at this stage and the next stages.
